We are Moving!

I have accepted the Position of Associate Pastor at the Oxford Advent Christian Church in Oxford Maine! I will begin there after Labor Day. I have enjoyed my years here at Calvary Bible Church and I'm not looking forward to leaving all of our dear friends here. However, I am looking forward to seeing what God is going to do in and through us as we continue to serve Him in this new role. I would like to say that although I am moving into adult ministry I have no intention of growing up!

Tagged, huh?

So I have learned that with only two readers it takes along time to get tagged. (even when one of your two readers is your wife!) Anyways, here goes...

The rules: 8 random facts, post the rules, tag 8 other people... got it.

Just the facts ma'am.

Fact #1 I am having a hard time thinking of facts about me.

Fact #2 I am not nearly as smart or creative as people give me credit for.

Fact #3 I don't like to be wet. I never have, I can swim fine, I am not afraid of water or much else, I just don't like to be wet.

Fact #4 I am an excelent speller

Fact #5 I think everybody picks their nose whether they admit it or not.

Fact #6 I quit the seventh grade football team because they wouldn't give me a uniform that fit and never played again.

Fact #7 I usually do the best at the things I like to do the least.

Fact #8 I am lazy.

Ok, well that was the easy part. The hard part is tagging 8 more people since there are only two who read my blog and have both done this already...

So I guess I will have to tag... Jason Veritek, Kevin Youkilis, Dustin Pedroia, Julio Lugo, Mike Lowell, Manny Ramirez, Coco Crisp and J.D. Drew.
Fact #9 If they respond I think I will pass out!

GOOD NEWS!

I am not a nerd! Unfortunately, according to the test results I may not be that cool either (which is sooo not true!)

I am nerdier than 14% of all people. Are you a nerd? Click here to find out!

Blooger Questions

Here are some questions given to me to answer by my lone reader...

1. What is your greatest spiritual gift and how do you use it?
I'm not sure if this gift made the list in "The Spiritual Gifts Test" but I would say that the greatest gift the Lord has given me to use is word pictures and analogies. I love to preach and this particular gift comes in handy when I get the opportunity to do so.

2. If Hollywood was making your life story into a movie, what songs would be on the soundtrack?
I think the title cut would be the Transformers theme song by Mute Math.
"Brown-eyed girl" by Van Morrison (Not because I am a brown-eyed girl but I did marry one!)
"Should I Tell Them" by Shaun Groves
"My Name is Mud" by Primus
"Country Road" by7 James Taylor
"Throwdown at theHoedown" by Bela Fleck and the Flecktones

3. What is the most embarrassing thing you’ve ever done on purpose?
On a white water rafting trip with a camp I was counseling at I tried to walk on water. It was in a smooth part of the river and I was in the water trying to walk along the bottom (a very dangerous thing to do by the way). Our guide started yelling and swearing at me to stop it before I got myself ****ing killed, in front of all my campers. I did not feel very cool at that moment...

4. If you were appointed as the CEO of any major corporation for one year, which corporation would it be, and what big initiative would you undertake?
If it were today it would probably be Exxon/Mobil. And my big initiative would be to share the profits with the consumers by lowering the cost of gasoline and stop the blockage of the development of really fuel efficient cars. Maybe even produce a "Wood Fired Automobile!"

5. If you could go back in time to the Old Testament, what event would you like to witness?
I think I would like to hide in the cleft of the rock with Elijah and see God. I share a lot with Elijah, only on a MUCH smaller scale. There are times in my life when the Lord is near and definitely working through me and then there are times when I deal with depression even after seeing the goodness and faithfulness of the Lord.
But I don't relish the thought of eating roadkill brought by ravens....

The 4 Day Challenge Is On!

So this may not seem like a big deal but it it really is...
On Memorial Day Weekend I had organized a "Family Adventure Weekend," A white water rafting trip on the Kennebec River in Jackman, Maine. We brought along 34 people from our church, most of whom had never been white water rafting before - It was awesome! As soon as I get some of the pics I will post them here. The camping was great, the rafting was incredible, but the 4 day challenge is by far the best thing to come out of the trip. My dear friend and running buddy Shawn issued the 4 day challenge to everybody on the trip, some just smiled and said "that's a good idea" others gladly accepted. Here is the 4 day challenge: Exercise your body and spirit 4 days out of 7 every week. That means run, work out, do Pilates, whatever 4 days in a week - Sunday to Saturday AND have a quiet time with the Lord and His Word 4 days out of 7 - church services don't count.

I had planned on doing a little expository sermonette the next morning which the Lord, I think, prevented me from doing, but I had no reason to do so. We had no need to GO TO church we were BEING the Church. Mutual accountability among friends and brothers now that's Church!

A Question for the Blogosphere...

Why are running distances marked out in meters? Or kilometers? We have a 1600 meter track, not a quarter mile track. We run the 100 meter dash, the 200 meter dash, the 300 meter hurdles, the 400 meter dash, the 800 meter run, the 1600 meter run, the 3200 meter run, 5k's, 10k's... What's the deal?! is it because it sounds like we are running more than if we measured in feet, yards or miles? After all I feel a lot better after a 5k run than after a 3.2 mile run! The psychology of running... something I never thought I would be thinking about...

Can I tell you how much I love my boys?!
I am so blessed.
