And awaaay we go!

Cogan house as of 8:30 am and 11:45 am. Quite a difference, huh? I was sitting in my office, which faces the house, thinking "somebody ought to take some pictures of that for posterity..." DUH! One of our guys called me and asked me to go get my camera and record this event. I can't believe I had to be asked to do it. What a dummy!

Its going is coming!

I have the best seat in the house to watch the removal of the green house next door! my office is on the end of the church building nearest to the old house that is being torn down next door and I have a great view of the action. It's less than ten degrees outside so unfortunately watching the action with the boys from the parking lot is probably not the best idea but sitting in my comfy chair in my toasty office works great! The crew has started removing windows and things like that in preparation for the building's going!

The big MEAT-ing

So last night the church held a congregational meeting to decide whether or not to sell a view easement to our neigbor up the hill. The only thing that is impeding his view of the lake is an old house that the church bought earlier this summer. Our neigbor was kind enough to offer a rediculous amount of money to insure his view of the lake from his dining room window. The church did not vote unanimously to buy the house but the majority was in favor and the vote to grant the easement was about the same. The interesting thing about this meeting last night is that the night we could get with the least amount of interference from other meetings and ministries was, of course, youth group night. This didn't really pose any great dilemma because I do not have a leadership role in this particular scenario and I could send down my two staff members who are members to vote while I stayed with the students. So youth group was nearly over when my wife called from the church saying "get rid of those kids and get down here!" of all nights this was easier said than done. The one parent who always shows up early to pick up her daughter and two friends was waaaay late. As soon as the meeting was over and my wife came back up the hill the parent showed up and took the girls home. I haven't really gotten many insights to what the meeting was like but I know for sure that, for whatever reason, God didn't want me there. Praise God for His divine protection!
